What to do if you find an oiled bird

On finding an oiled bird, it is important that you do NOT try to wash it, as we use special cleaning substances that are bird~friendly.

Please try to get the bird to a professional care centre immediately, and try to prevent the bird from preening, if possible. Preening the oiled feathers will cause the bird to ingest the oil, causing burning to the internal organs it comes in to contact with.

The bird should be placed in a box with an old towel in the bottom - if you have one. If you have to carry the bird, please ensure that it is wrapped in a towel or material, as plastic or polythene will react with the oil on the feathers.
